A must for all wine lovers! Visit the magnificent Hunter Valley and discover the excitement of one of Australia's premier wine growing regions. Sample reds and whites, cheeses and chocolate and visit one of the Hunter's most dynamic wine makers - McGuigans along with many others.

Discover the picturesque Hunter Valley and award - winning wines. HQ Tours pick up points are Central Station at 7.00am in front of the YHA on Rawson Place or 140 George Street the Rocks, adjacent to Circular Quay right in front of the "Bakers Oven" coffee shop. Both these departure points are outside takeaway outlets if you need a coffee or food heart starter! Once on board your driver/guide will give a short run down of the day ahead and we're on our way.

Depart Sydney from the Rocks over the Harbour Bridge onto the Pacific Highway. Pass through Sydney's Northern Suburbs to join the Freeway to Newcastle. The Freeway crosses the Hawkesbury River through typical Aussie landscape. The 2-hour drive passes quickly with background information about the area and lots of stories - listen if you want, or use the time for a relaxed snooze.

At around 9:30 we stop for a toilet break at the roadhouse and maybe a coffee for the late-starters. Here you will be transferred to a local touring company "Shadows Wine Tours" This professionally operated small company will take you to tastings at 4-5 wineries, a 2 course a la carte lunch is included in the days activities. There are 72 wineries in the Hunter Valley wine region. Finish your day with an extensive private tasting at McGuigans Winery with cheese from the local cheese factory.

McGuigan Wines is the culmination of the McGuigan family's involvement in the Australian wine industry for more than fifty-five years. We are sure you will find a wine, which suits your taste - the cellar door prices make it very easy to purchase your souvenir bottles!

For the sweet tooth you can drop into the nearby chocolate and fudge factory. Depart the Hunter Valley for return back to Sydney. Arrival is around 7.30pm. If it is possible HQ Tours will drop you back at your hotel after your great day or else we drop you back to where you boarded in the morning.
